UK broadband network status

This page shows the real-time network status of the main UK broadband providers, computed from public outage-detection signals (IODA, Georgia Tech) at network (ASN) level and updated every ~10 minutes. Click a provider for detail: a 24-hour chart, what to do during an outage and support contacts.

If your connection is slow but there's no outage, the problem is probably inside your home: run a speed test and read the guide to speeding up your line.

UK providers at a glance

• BT — the largest UK ISP, on the Openreach FTTP/FTTC network.
• Sky — broadband over Openreach; mobile runs on O2's network.
• Virgin Media — its own cable (DOCSIS) network, separate from Openreach.
• TalkTalk — value broadband on the Openreach network.
• EE — BT Group; strong mobile network plus Openreach broadband.
• Plusnet — BT-owned, broadband-only, on Openreach.
• Vodafone UK — broadband on CityFibre/Openreach plus its mobile network.
• Community Fibre — full-fibre (FTTP) on its own London network.
• Zen Internet — independent ISP on the Openreach network.

Is it a general outage or just you?

The quickest way to tell is to measure and compare. Run a speed test from your phone on 4G/5G (Wi-Fi off) and another from a PC on a wired connection: if mobile works but your broadband doesn't, the problem is your line or your provider's fixed network; if nothing works and neighbours are down too, it's an area outage. Remember a slow line isn't a down line — if you have speed but not enough, check your Wi-Fi and make sure you aren't confusing megabits with megabytes (1000 Mbps is 125 MB/s).
